Australia has a penis drawing that can be seen from space
The latest satellite map find has made people on the internet laugh, and we can’t say we blame them. On the dry bed of a lake in Victoria, Australia, there is a huge drawing of a penis.
There aren’t many details about where it came from, but anyone who thinks the shape of a dick and balls is just clever photoshop can easily check out the real thing on Google Maps, where it’s currently labeled as a “Aussie Weiner.”
Geelong Advertiser says that locals have known about the penis for months. At one point, it was marked on a map as Betoota Lake, taking the name from an Australian ghost town and satirical newspaper.
Strangely, this isn’t even the only penis on the landscape of Australia that can be seen from space. Nor one of the best.
In 1998, a helicopter pilot in South Australia saw a huge figure carved into a desert plateau. The Marree Man was named after a town close by. It is thought to show a naked Indigenous man holding a throwing stick or woomera.
Geoglyphs are drawings that can be seen from the air, and the Marree Man is one of the biggest in the world. He is 4.2 kilometers (2.6 miles) tall, and his outline is a whopping 28 kilometers long (17 miles).
Yes, the image in the red sand does include pubic hair and male genitalia.

Australia is the place where people have lived the longest without stopping, but this figure seems to be from more recently, though no one has come forward to claim it yet.
This week, on the 20th anniversary of the discovery of Marree Man, an Australian businessman named Dick Smith offered a cash reward for information about the person who made the glyph, whose meaning has sadly been lost over the years.
Arid places like the dry interior of Australia are great places for geoglyphs because the weather is less likely to damage them. The giant structures in the grasslands of Kazakhstan, which are thought to be at least 8,000 years old, are some of the most mysterious.
Huge works of art have also been found in the Amazonian forest, but the Nazca lines in Peru are probably the most well-known geoglyphs in the world. They are a huge collection of huge shapes that date back to around 500 BCE.
The Nazca shapes, which mostly show animals, are so many and complicated that researchers announced earlier this year that they had found over 50 drawings that had been missed before.
We don’t think any of them had a huge penis, though. But whoever made the recent stupid geoglyph can be sure that they are carrying on a good tradition, as shown by the Cerne Abbas Giant figure in England:
